Types of Data We Collect
When a client or learner contacts Dyslexia Leicester for specialist support or an assessment, we collect various types of information to deliver the required service. All personal information is processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) 2018. These regulations also require us to be registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
The types of information we collect include:
- Personal Identifiers: For example, date of birth.
- Contact Details: For example, home address, email address, and telephone number.
- Sensitive Personal Data: For example, the reason for seeking an assessment, details of disabilities or specific learning difficulties, any previous support received, assessment data, and notes made during or after sessions or contact.
- Meeting Dates: Dates of meetings held with the client/learner.
- Family Details: Information about family members with consent to liaise with the client/learner’s school, college, or workplace.
- Test Papers and Responses: All test papers and responses are stored securely at Dyslexia Leicester premises. The final assessment report is stored electronically in a password-protected file for six years. After the report is completed, test papers and other documents are securely disposed of.
Why We Collect This Information
We collect this information to plan and deliver the assessment or specialist support requested by the client.
Who Might We Share This Information With?
Once the assessment report is completed, it will be emailed to the person or organization who commissioned the assessment. The report will be password encrypted.
We will not share the assessment results with any third parties without written permission from the person who requested the assessment. Email threads related to the assessment will be deleted after the report is delivered.
In exceptional circumstances, we may need to share test papers with PATOSS as part of the Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) renewal process.
Access to Your Personal Information
You have the right to view, amend, or delete the personal information we hold. To make such a request, please email dyslexialeicester@gmail.com.
Note: Requests to delete data may be considered on a case-by-case basis. However, some assessment records and support notes may be retained for legal reasons.

This privacy notice was last reviewed on 26.05.2025 and will be updated as required to comply with legislation set by the ICO.
